The Ancient World has always been a topic of interest for me.
I have dedicated most of my time on this website discussing the American Revolution and how it created this new country.
I have written about the Founding Fathers, great Revolutionary War Generals, and daring Explorers who laid the foundation of the culture we now live in, but who laid the foundation for them?
Where did the idea of equality come from?
Was there a republic before America?
How was warfare fought?
One of the things about the study of history is that the more you learn the more you understand that history repeats itself and there really is not too much that is unique.
Ideas for modern inventions are nothing more than ideas that have evolved over time. Could we have invented the car without the invention of the wheel?
Understanding The Ancient World
I am very excited about writing this new section of content and can not wait to learn more about the events, people, and civilizations that lived and thrived in this world.
The Ancient World left remnants through its architecture and historical books that give us a glimpse of what living in ancient times would have been like. Probably the best guide to the ancient world is the Bible.
Whether or not you are like me and believe the Bible to be God's Word the history within it has been well-documented.
The Egyptians, Assyrians, Persians, Greeks, and Romans are all mentioned as are some lesser-known ancient peoples such as The Hittites, Phoenicians, and Canaanites.
The Ancients had many different perspectives and their value of human life differed from culture to culture.
This means that it is important to do our best to not apply our own prejudices that we have to their world.
While it is jarring to read how Ancient Sparta treated their young children it would be equally as jarring for an ancient Spartan to participate in our world.
