The Herding Group, created in 1983, is the newest AKC classification; its members were formerly members of the Working Group. All breeds share the fabulous ability to control the movement of other animals. While most of these dogs will never see a farm, they do not lose their instinct to herd. They are intelligent dogs who tend to take well to training and have adapted well to the family.
