Ron DeSantis is a popular governor of Florida who is a presidential candidate in 2024.

DeSantis was born in Jacksonville, Florida, and raised in Dunedin. He graduated from Yale University and Harvard Law School. After law school, he served as a legal officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve.

DeSantis entered politics in 2012 when he ran for the U.S. House of Representatives. He defeated the Democratic incumbent, Alan Grayson, in the general election. DeSantis was reelected to the House in 2014 and 2016.

He is known for his conservative principles and Covid policies that caused a large migration to the Sunshine State. He first came to office after defeating Democratic candidate Andrew Gillum in 2018. He won by a slim margin.

At the time of his victory, there were more Democrats registered in Florida than Republicans, and by the time of his re-election in 2022, there were more Republicans registered than Democrats, and the number continues to grow. 

He has shown strength for conservative principles, taking on the woke culture, and has expanded school choice that benefits those with lower income throughout the state.

Family Overview

Ron DeSantis came from a blue-collar family in Youngstown, Ohio. His family migrated from Italy generations ago.

His father was known for his work ethic and provided an opportunity for his children to attend excellent schools. 

His mother worked as a nurse and gave birth to two children. She met her husband in Youngstown, Ohio. His wife is a breast cancer survivor.

Ron DeSantis had a sister who died of cancer in the arms of her fiance when she was 30. It was a tragic death, and the family does not speak about it much.

He met his wife, and they married in Orlando, Florida, at Disneyworld. The two have three children together.

Karen Ann Rogers (1948 - living) - She worked as a nurse and met her husband in Youngstown, Ohio. They eventually moved to Florida and ended up in Dunedin.

Jill Casey Black (1980 - living) - She was born in Ohio and eventually moved to Florida. She was a host on the golf channel and met her husband while on a golf course. They currently have three children together.

Madison DeSantis (private) - She is a minor, and her information should be private.

Mason DeSantis (private) - He is a minor, and his information should be private

Mamie DeSantis (private) - She is a minor, and her information should be private

Sibling:

Christina DeSantis (1985 - 2015) - She never married but was engaged at the time of her death. She died at the age of 30.
