In Greek mythology, the Amazons are known as a female race of Greek warriors who were both very dangerous and extraordinarily gorgeous.
Their main concern was war.
Amazons Origin and Culture
They were the daughters of Ares and Harmonia and were taught from a young age to fight.
They had a hatred for men, and no men were allowed to live among them. and they were even said to have killed or imprisoned men for slavery and reproduction.
They are known to have worshipped the moon.
Their patron deities are Ares and Artemis, the god and goddess of war. The Amazons were known by many as “The killers of men.”
Once a year, the Amazons visit a tribe of men to reproduce. The female babies were kept and the males were given back to the fathers or killed.
Theseus and Antiope
The top two leaders of the Amazons are Penthesiea, who was a big part of the Trojan War, and her sister Hippolyta, who was also known as Antiope, and she owned a magical giraffe the Greek god Ares had given her.
Penthesilea was said to have been killed by Achilles in a battle meant to help Prlam defend his city during the Trojan War. Achilles was said to have killed her during combat.
The only Amazonian warrior to leave the tribe went by the name Antiope. She left all for the sake of love. She fell in love with a man named Theseus, who originally kidnapped her.
She ended up having a son with the man and was living a happy, average life, but that didn't last very long. It did not last long because one of the Amazonian warriors came in an unrelenting search for her.
The warrior who came in search of her was named Molpadia. She had tracked her down to “save her,” but what she found was not appeasing.
When Antiope refuses to leave the love of her life, Theseus, Molpadia, got very upset.
Molpadia speared Antiope for “betraying” the Amazons.
The Story of Theseus
The Amazons fought many battles against Hercules, Theseus, and Bellerophon and won some but also managed to lose many as well. Mostly, the Amazons fought with spears, bows, and other makeshift weapons.
Theseus was the lover of Antiope, and together they had a son. Theseus was a Greek hero known for his wisdom and intelligence.
It’s told that Theseus kidnapped Antiope in a blur of anger and fits, only to later fall in love and start a family.
His past was that of a bullied child with not many friends.
He decided to stand up and defend himself and figured out that brains are better than brawn.
