Dr. William Griggs was the doctor in the village of Salem during the Salem Witch Trials that took place in Massachusetts Bay Colony.
He was given the responsibility to diagnose whether or not the accused were "possessed" of the devil and how much of a witch they were.
His testimony often gave credibility to the afflicted girls: Abigail Williams, Ann Putnam, Elizabeth Parris, Mercy Lewis, Mary Warren, and Elizabeth Hubbard, to which he said they were "under an Evil hand"
During the trials, he was probably the one that investigated the women's breasts to see if they had a "witch's tit" and if anything abnormal had occurred.
Other than his involvement as a doctor during the trials, there is little known about him.
